Recipe: Masala Chhachh (Buttermilk)

Buttermilk is a dairy product made from curd. You can control calories in making buttermilk by separating butter from curd. This is very helpful in indigestion problem. If one any have indigestion problem in consuming milk then he can regularly drink buttermilk, it will improve digestion.

For making buttermilk there is one thing to keep in mind, what kind of buttermilk do you want as you can make it by removing butter, by adding water and without adding water. In general people drink buttermilk made by skimmed curd plus water and for making this more tasteful you can add spices to it.

Ingredients for masala chhachh:

  1. Curd 1 cup
  2. Water 1 or 2 cup
  3. Salt or Black salt to taste
  4. Roasted cumin powder 1/2 tbl spoon
  5. Finely chopped onion 1 spoon
  6. Finely chopped green chili 1
  7. Finely chopped coriander leaves 1/2 spoon

Method for making buttermilk:

  1. Blend curd and water in a jar
  2. Add salt and other ingredients to it.

Sake well and serve/drink it.

Note: Onion, green chili and coriander leaves are optional and you can add vegetables and fruits of your choice if you want. And you can also adjust amount of water in this chhachh (buttermilk) according to your choice/requirements.
