Another Remedy for Indigestion

Indigestion or dyspepsia [from Latin duspepsia, dyspepsis digestion] is condition of mild discomfort in abdomen during or right after eating. It is like burning, pain, bloating, nausea, gassy discomfort around naval and chest region. After meals there is feeling of fullness. This condition is not serious unless accompanied by some other serious symptoms.

The factors responsible for indigestion are

  • Alcohol drinking, smoking tobacco, too much caffeine
  • Spicy, fatty, greasy foods eating
  • Overeating, fast eating
  • Stress, anxiety
  • Over eating high-fiber foods
  • Gallstones, gastritis, pancreatitis, ulcers
  • Medicines such as antibiotics, aspirin, and over-the-counter pain medicines

There are numerous OTC modern medicines available to get relief from indigestion. But these come with some side-effects.

For this very common digestive disorder, you can use certain harmless, daily use spices available in your kitchen. The ingredients are right in the kitchen, recipe is simple and best part is, it has no side effect but helps to improve digestion and appetite. These medicinal spices have positive effect on digestive system.

Cumin seeds or jeera has an astringent, carminative, stomachic and blood purifying properties. Fennel seeds have mildly antiseptic, strongly antispasmodic and carminative properties. Indian Rock salt has properties of curing gas and spasm. So the combination is excellent in treating gassy indigestion. Here is simple method to make natural remedy for indigestion.

Ingredients

Cumin seeds (1 teaspoon), fennel seeds (1 teaspoon), ginger juice (1/4 teaspoon), Rock salt (1/5 teaspoon)

Process

  • Take water (300 ml) in pan
  • Add all four ingredients
  • Bring this to boil
  • Cook for 10 minutes at low flame

Strain and drink to get relief from indigestion. You can take it 2-3 times in a day. It has no side-effects. This preparation also helps to improves appetite.

If you frequently suffer from indigestion, then it is important to find underlying reasons such as improper chewing, fast eating, talking while eating, too much stress or having meal after exercise. So try to find the real reason and remove the same.
