Vics Vaporub

Vics vaporub is topical ointment from Vics. It is rubbed on chest, throat and back to get relief from blocked nose and congestion. Here is ingredients, indication and warnings of Vics Vaporub.

Ingredients of vics vaporub:

  • Active Ingredients (Purpose)
  • Regular:

  • Camphor 4.8% (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic)
  • Eucalyptus oil 1.2% (Cough suppressant)
  • Menthol 2.6% (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic)
  • Lemon:

  • Camphor 4.7% (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic)
  • Eucalyptus oil 1.2% (Cough suppressant)
  • Menthol 2.6% (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic)
  • Inactive Ingredients:

  • Regular: Cedarleaf oil, nutmeg oil, special petrolatum, thymol, turpentine oil
  • Lemon: Cedarleaf oil, lemon fragrance, nutmeg oil, special petrolatum, thymol, turpentine oil
  • Indication Of Vics Vaporub:

  • Rub on chest and throat, temporarily relieves cough due to common cold.
  • Rub on muscles and joints, temporarily relieves minor aches and pains.
  • How to use vics vaporub
  • Rub thick layer on chest and throat or rub on sore, aching muscles and cover dry cloth.
  • Keep clothing loose on throat, chest to help vapors reach the nose.
  • Repeat up to three times per 24 hours.
  • If coughing at night, apply Vics on sole of feet and put on soaks.
  • Please Note Following To Use Vics Safely:

  • It should NOT be used on children below 2 yrs.
  • Try to avoid using in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Do not take internally. Keep away from the mouth, nostrils and any cut or wound.
  • Keep away from children.
  • If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
  • Do not heat, microwave or add to hot water.
  • Do not over use.

Remember it gives temporary relief and is for common cold, cough and if cough is persistent for a few days then do not waste time and contact a doctor right away to know exact reason as symptom may worsen and sometimes reason can be pneumonia.
