Jatiphaladi vati or gutika is Ayurvedic medicine in tablet form which is used to treat various digestive system related problems, it is also considered as health tonic. This is manufactured by Baidynath India.
Ingredients of Jatiphaladi vati
Nutmeg, Borax, Abhrak Bhasma, Dhatura Seed, Opium, Akarkara, Laung, Pippal, Chandan, Kebabchini, Keshar
1- Nutmeg (Jaiphal)
Nutmeg has antioxidant, antidiarrhoeal, stimulant, carminative, astringent, aphrodisiac and abortifacient (causing abortion) properties. It is used for treating colic, indigestion, loose motion, gas, nausea, rheumatism etc.
2- Borax (Tanak Bhasma)
It is processed Borax, used in treatment of infection of upper respiratory tract, menses problem and hyperacidity. It has diuretic, astringent, antacid and antiseptic activities.
3- Abhrak Bhasma
Abhrak Bhasma is the calcination of the mineral, mica. It is an established Rasayana (Rejuvenative tonic, nourishes all Dhatu and builds Ojas, promotes longevity by preventing aging and by making the body young again) of Ayurveda.
It has alterative, aphrodisiac, anti-pyretic, carminative, hematinic, anticonvulsant, liver protective and rejuvenator properties.
4- Dhatura Seed
Kanak or Dhatura seeds contains alkaloids and fixed oil.
As per Ayurveda, Dhatura seeds are Madhura, Katu, Tikta, Kashaya (Rasa), Guru, Ruksha, Tikshna (Guna), Ushna (Virya), Katu (Vipaka) and Kaphahara, Varnya, Madakari, Vishahara, Krimihara, Vran-hara, Krimi-hara, Bhram-hara, Vamaka (Karma).
In Ayurveda, opium is known as Ahiphena. Ahiphena or opium is used for preparation of medicine only after proper purification.
Akarkara consists of dried roots of plant Anacyclus pyrethrum DC and used mainly in treatment of cold-cough, indigestion, asthma, paralysis, abdominal diseases, pain in body and tooth ache. It is a stimulant, sialagogue and nerve tonic and acts on nervous, excretory and reproductive organs.
It has antioxidant, antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. These are stimulant, carminative, gives relief in nausea and vomiting. Cloves increase saliva and gastric juices production and helps in better digestion.
Pippali is given with jaggery for cough, respiratory infection, difficult breathing; with honey for diarrhoea. Ayurvedic medicine Chausath Prahari Pipal, is prepared by triturating Pippali in its own decoction, and given for treating variety of diseases that occur in body due to Vata and Kapha Dosha. Trikatu is also a famous Ayurvedic medicine containing Pippali.
Sandalwood contain few chemicals (such as sesquiterpenols, sesquiterpenes) which have anti-inflammatory, sedative and immune supportive properties. For medicinal purpose the heartwood and essential oil of tree is used.
It has carminative, diuretic, expectorant, stimulant, stomachic, irritant, sedative, anti-dysenteric, and antiseptic properties and useful in treatment of cold, cough, bronchitis, respiratory infection, and reproductive system related problems.
Saffron is used as condiment and colouring ingredient in several dishes. It is also used as a medicinal herb in fevers, enlargement of the liver, cough and asthma, anaemia, seminal debility rheumatism and neuralgia. Saffron is nervine tonic, sedative, antispasmodic expectorant, stomachic, diaphoretic and emmenagogue. In low doses Saffron stimulates gastric secretion and thus improves digestion.

Dosage of Jatiphaladi vati
1 tablet twice a day with milk or butter milk or as directed by Physician.
