Recipe: Lauki ka Kofta

Lauki(Bottle Gourd) is very common vegetable in India. You will find this vegetable in almost every season and every where in India. Lauki is very healthy and full of medicinal properties. There are many different recipes of lauki like for main course, side dishes and sweet dishes.

Here I am writing recipe for making lauki kofta.

Ingredients for Lauki Kofta

  • Lauki 1 kg
  • Besan 4 spoon
  • Corn flour(Corn starch) 1 spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder
  • Dhaniya powder 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • Roasted jeera powder 1/2 tsp
  • 2 Onion
  • Green chili 2-3 chopped
  • Cooking oil 4-5 spoon(to shallow fry)

Ingredients for kofta gravy

  • Onion 2
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 spoon
  • 2 Onion
  • Green chilli 2
  • 2 Red tomato
  • Jeera 1 tsp
  • Dhaniya powder 2 spoon
  • Garam Masala 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  • Cashew Almond 2 spoon
  • Milk cream 2 spoon

Method for making kofta

  • Grate lauki after peeling it. Renove seed part.
  • Chop onion in small pieces
  • Mix basan, chopped onion, Ginger Garlic paste, red chili powder, roasted jeera powder, salt, chopped green chili, Dhaniya powder, Turmeric powder and corn starch in a deep pan.
  • Mix above ingredient finely
  • Now heat oil in a frying pan
  • Now make kofta balls and shallow fry these ball on slow flame
  • Kofta ball are ready

Method for making Kofta gravy

  • Make paste of onion
  • Make paste of ginger garlic
  • Make paste of tomato, cashew, almond
  • Heat 2 spoon oil in a deep pan
  • Make crackle of jeera
  • Now add chopped and green chili and add onion paste
  • Cook by steering and cook till onion gets brown
  • Now add paste of tomato and other ingredients
  • Now add dhaniya, turmeric, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, and salt to it
  • Cook by steering in-between till oil starts get separated from spices
  • Now add water and cook till it starts boiling
  • Now gravy is ready, add milk cream to it and put kofta in gravy.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes on slow flam.
  • Kofta is ready to serve, do not forget to sprinkle green coriander powder and some cream before serving.
