Triphala is very old ayurvedic mixture of three fruits i. e. Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica & Emblica officinalis. Plaque mixes with sugar and starch in the diet to form acid and other by-products in the mouth, irritating the gum and causing them to become red, tender and swollen. If these are not taken care then these may progress to periodontitis.

How to prepare triphala mouthwash?

  • Take 40-50 gm triphala powder and boil it in 1 ltr water till it reduced to 250 ml.
  • Let it cool down and filter with strainer and keep this decoction in clean sterilized bottle.

Use 20~50 ml decoction as mouthwash, three times a day.

This decoction can be also used as cleaner for wounds, nose etc.
