Diet in Arthritis

Arthritis is inflammation of joints due to various reasons. In this disorder inflammation of joints causes pain, stiffness and sometimes immobility. It is important to pay attention to diet and lifestyle to reduce swelling, pain and worsening of arthritis.

Food inclusion in arthritis:

Wheat, Millet chapattis, Methi or fenugreek, Chaulai, Bitter gourd, Tinda.

Apple, Papaya, Grapes, Dates, Garlic in diet.

Spices turmeric, ginger and cumin in daily diet as these have anti-inflammatory effect on body.

Take light and easily digestible food.

Antioxidant to protect cells from action of free radical that are responsible for cell damage and degeneration.

Foods should be avoided in Arthritis:

Exclude or eat in moderation rice, Potato, Cauliflower, Radish, Sem, Grams, Urad pulses, Banana, Oranges, Lemon, Guavas, Tomatoes, Curd because of air element.

  • Improve digestion as problem related to digestive system like constipation aggravate inflammation and pain.
  • Avoid sleeping during day and excessive hard work.
  • Do Yoga-Pranayam ,regular moderate exercise and remain physically active .
  • Maintain a balance weight. If overweight then try to shed extra kilos.
