Onion for Treating Hair Loss

Onion juice is very effective in treatment of Alopecia Areata and hair-loss due to other reasons. Learn how to use onion juice to control hair fall.

Onion is well-known vegetable. Its botanical name is Allium cepa and belong to family Liliaceae. It is part of daily diet in the form of salad and ingredient in vegetable cooking. Onion contains Protein (albumin), allyl propyl disulphide, diallyl sulphide, alliin, allicin. It also contains some mineral like potassium, zinc, calcium, magnesium and traces of chromium. It has numerous medicinal uses and one of them is treatment of hair fall.

It is an effective herbal home remedy for treating Alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is medical condition in which immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles. This causes hair loss from a scalp area in the form of patches or overall thinning of hair without any bald patch. The hairs may grow but break easily.

How to use Onion for treating hair loss?

Take onion and peel it to remove outer cover. Wash it and grind to get its pulp. Tie pulp in a thin/cheesecloth and squeeze to get its juice. This onion juice can be used immediately or can be stored in refrigerator for future use.
Rub onion juice on the affected areas till the areas becomes red. This should be done twice a day, in morning and evening. Do this regularly for a few months as this treatment takes time to show result.
